It’s always darkest before dawn. Unless the lights are out.
The black didnt go as smoothly as he’d liked.
It was on the rocks. A tumbler with three blocks of ice and four fingers in height.
He liked his liquor hard, like he liked his music.
Two candles shone dimly in front of him.
Wasn’t romance on his mind.
The power had been out for over an hour now.
He fumed. It was also out for over an hour LAST NIGHT…..AND THE NIGHT BEFORE!
Hell, even my phone’s dying.
Which annoyed him even further, since he couldnt play any music tonight.
Still. All is not lost.
The incessant showers had brought a soothing feel, after the intense heat of the weekend.
And rather than having continuous sweat trickle down his spine, it was the cool breeze instead that rustled the air outside.
He took a sip of his whiskey. And inhaled deeply as well. Its burning dregs easing into his belly.
“I’ll savor this moment” he thought as he closed his eyes against the sputtering flames before him.
He muttered “Fuck the virus. Fuck those videos. Fuck airport shenanigans. Fuck lockdowns. Fuck blackouts. And, absolutely fucking, fuck liquor bans!”
Shaking his head slightly, he leaned forward, to adjust his seating.
What a year its been. And it’s only March. Got 9 more months of this shit, like I’m a pregnant teen.
He poured himself another shot.
Atleast I can muse in peace tonight.
He took another sip. Staring into the flames, until a sudden gust of wind snuffed out both candles.
Fuck.
